I don’t know about you, but if 2020 has taught me anything, it’s that shopping small and independent is one of the best things you can do. Shopping really small is the most rewarding, as more often than not it’s one or maybe two people who will benefit from you choosing them over a bigger company.
I thought I would list out my favourites for you to check out, especially as it’s coming up to Christmas time! All of these businesses I have either followed for a long time or I have just discovered and absolutely love.
A store I’ve recently discovered, Dreadful Pigeon is a Leeds-based store (by the end of this list you’ll really be able to tell I live in Leeds) that sells jewellery and homeware. Their teeth rings, moon wall hangings and resin boxes are all really cool.
If you’re vegan and a goth like me then this is the indie shop for you. A one woman business, you can buy hoodies, prints, badges, totes and more all with a vegan related slogan in a witchy font. Love it.
A gothic and witchy inspired brand, Forever Irregular is a store that sells an array of products from gorgeous jewellery pieces to homeware. Run by the lovely Charlotte in Nottingham.
Bodies and Botanics
Combining beautiful babes with luscious foliage and a wee bit of kink thrown in there too, this store contains everything you need to create a home that says fuck yeah to empowerment.
The Crafty Burreato
Run by self-proclaimed Disney goth, The Crafty Burreato is the perfect shop for quirky Christmas gifts. With a range of greetings cards, wrapping paper and even an advent calendar (likely to be sold out unfortunately!) Em has your gothmas covered.
A new brand started in lockdown, Obsidian Hollow is run by Kayleigh, a beauty and lifestyle blogger. Selling spooky necklaces, earrings and rings in silver, you can choose from pentagrams, crosses, skeletons, and moons. So cute!
The Ghost Family Haunts
Owned by two artists, this indie brand gives me Bill Safi vibes, but with the idiosyncrasy that comes with being a British weirdo. Their shop features decorated candles, prints, clothing along with wax melt sets and more.
4 Luv Designs

4 Luv Designs is run by Lexie, and features all sorts from incense and candles to handmade pet beds in an array of goth fabrics (a perfect gift for your cat or small dog this Christmas). Her style is immaculate so you can expect everything in her shop to be too.
Dash of Curiosity
Handmade / 3D printed homeware, this Leeds-based twosome make skull pots in a range of colours (loving the copper and iridescent ones!) as well as jaw stands, anatomical heart shaped lamps.
Another Yorkshire based indie store, Witch Crafts specialises in illustration so there’s lots of prints and stickers with pop culture references. Jess has got Harry Potter Christmas cards, a new 2021 calendar and she’s just launched T-shirts too!
Alien Queen Crafts
With handmade, personalised signs in gothic and horror lettering and spooky cross stitch, Alien Queen Crafts is the place to go for cute wall decor.
Yet ANOTHER Leeds business, Cosmic Drifters design and handmade witchy-boho clothing in gorgeous prints. With a range of styles, this shop is perfect if you love a pattern. They have actually taken last orders for Christmas shipping already through unfortunately!
The Cosy Crypt
The Cosy Crypt make vegan candles and homeware that are designed to look creepy and beautiful in your home. I love that their packaging is ethically sourced too. I purchased a ghost candle and wax melts (despite not having a wax melter thingy) for Halloween, and the scent was poison apple and it smells divine. Highly recommend.
Emma illustrates tattoo-inspired greetings cards and prints to make your little rock n roll heart happy. Her latest neon collection is fire! You should also check out her behind the scenes/lifestyle insta because she is literally one of the coolest people ever.
This shop is run by Vee, selling both cute jewellery, handmade embroidery and weird oddities to decorate your home. I recently purchased shed snakeskin (from her own snakes!) in a bottle and I’m in love! I debated giving it as a gift but decided I liked it too much to give it to anyone else.
Tell me your favourite small businesses!
