How I Want to Decorate Our Bedroom

Welcome to my first foray in to interior blogging…

I recently posted a(nother) photo of our curio wall on Insta, and a couple of people asked for a house tour. Now, the curio wall is probably the best bit of our house so far, so a house tour would probably be a bit disappointing.

However, we are in the process of updating our rental, so I thought I would share with you some of my bedroom ideas, and if you’d like, I will share my living room ideas later too. Obviously, because it’s rental, we can’t do anything major really, so it will mainly be furniture and styling that I do.

At the moment the bedroom is a hodgepodge of mine and Mark’s stuff from before we lived together. The bed has recently been updated (pictured) and we have big plans for the rest of it, we just need the cash/time/motivation to do it.

Right now the bedroom looks like this:

This photo is taken at a flattering angle – what you can’t see is two hefty wardrobes blocking the window on the other side of the room!

I’m a teeny weeny bit obsessed with Abigail Ahern and her decor style. She’s an interior designer that loves dark walls, lots of colour, plants and luscious detail. I would love to recreate something along those lines for the bedroom/living room.

I’m going for a black/grey, copper and blush type of colour scheme, with industrial details, but with a bit of a gothic touch too. The blush is going to be really subtle, definitely something that goes in afterwards… and it might not make it in at all. The copper might be colour enough!

All going well we’re going to get rid of the wardrobes and instead have rails hanging from chains. I am a teeny bit worried that we won’t have enough storage space and I won’t have anywhere to hide my junk, but it will look really cool.

We’ve bought the bed, the bedside tables and my dressing table from Next (though the tables haven’t arrived yet- pictured below). I’m hoping to find an aesthetically pleasing storage ottoman for the end of the bed, and a grey “ghost” style chair for my dresser, but other than that, there are no major pieces of furniture that I want to buy. I’m planning on a rug of some kind too, though not sure what yet.

I’m not entirely sure what I want to do with the walls, especially the one on the left hand side of the bed. I was thinking a big biiiig mirror (good for selfies) and to help bounce more light around. Some shelves for the cat to explore on would be great on that wall too, though I don’t know how feasible that will be. There’s a canopy type thing above the bed that she sleeps in – and she jumps on the bed to get down, sometimes while we’re in it.
It’s going to be a slow process I think, but I can’t wait to get going, and I’ll definitely keep you updated!
